Meet Vera Makki, the founder of Taman Bacaan Anak Lebah (TBAL). Born in Jakarta on May 26, 1976, Vera is a mother of three with a heartfelt mission—to help shape a brighter future for Indonesian children, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds in eastern Indonesia and later until today, to a broader Indonesia. Her approach is simple yet impactful: fostering a love for reading from an early age (1–8 years old).
A seasoned business communicator and public relations practitioner, Vera firmly believes that children who develop a habit of reading will grow into better communicators and critical thinkers. She sees reading as a foundation for a more structured and insightful way of thinking—an essential skill for lifelong learning and success.
Beyond her professional and philanthropic work, Vera enjoys traveling, making scrapbooks, swimming, reading, and cherishing moments with her husband, children, and the cats.
