Bookstech-2015
Jakarta, 10 – 11 October 2015: Supported by DKI Jakarta Province Government and Fountain Education Center, Taman Baca Anak Lebah (TBAL) conducted an event called BookSTech-Books, Storytelling & Technology at the Province Library in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Cikini.

BookSTech promoted kids literacy. Through its fun activity and the help of technology for kids, BookSTech also helped parents in educating their kids in this fast forward digital era. The right introduction of information, communication, and technology (ICT) would benefit both parents and children. Books, storytelling, and technology could be perfectly combined to shape a better future for Indonesian kids.

This two-days event was filled with exciting and fun activities like storytelling, technology corner by i-Dongeng & Coding Indonesia, and art and craft for kids as well as workshops for parents and teachers. Besides professional storytellers, various public figures also participated in the event such as Handry Satriago (CEO GE Indonesia & TBAL’s Advisor), Josef Bataona (HR Director PT Indofood), Novita Angie, Alya Rohali, Inne Sudjono, Poetri Soehendro, Aditya Mulya & Ninit Yunita (writers), Ratih Ibrahim (psychologist), and many more.

As stated in the press release, Rismadhani Chaniago, the 2015 BookSTech Head of Committee, said, “BookSTech is dedicated to serve Indonesian families in growing and raising kids literacy in a fun way like through storytelling. We combine in this activity, various talkshows and workshops for parents and teachers including introduce kids friendly technology.”

She continued, “We would like to thank the DKI Jakarta Province Government who has supported BookSTech. We are also grateful that various figures and professionals like Alya Rohali, Novita Angie, Fira Basuki and company leaders such as GE CEO Handry Satriago are ready to voluntarily become storytellers.”

BookSTech’s success was also due to volunteers’ support—Pejuang Lebah from GE Volunteers and others had contributed their time, energy, and skills in preparing the event. Thank you also to media partners who had helped BookSTech in raising awareness of kids’ literacy to wider public.

Hopefully in the following years, TBAL could conduct other positive events with Pejuang Lebah for Indonesian kids’ better future.
